4.Once adv. Once a week once more=once again at once=right away=right now=in no time=immediately once upon a time=long long ago

5. twice adj. twice a day

think twice再三考虑,重新思考

6. Internet n. the Internet=the Net常与介词on连用。该词是一个专有名词,故首字母大写。

如:use the Internet,on the Internet, surf the Internet

The Internet is very useful to us.

The Internet has great attraction for young people.

7. program cn.= programme

watch a TV/ news program on(about)…

What’s your favorite program?

My father spends much time on sports program.

8. full adj. (反) empty本文中=busy

Next week is quite full for me.下周我很忙。

be full of = be filled with

Eg: The box was full of books.

Hotels are often full during the holiday season.

His life is too full to find time for hobbies.

Adj.饱的 (反)hungry

I can’t eat any more. I am quite full.

9. swing cn. His father made a swing for him.

There is a kid playing on the swing.

v. (过去式) swung

The mother swung her baby in the cradle(摇篮).

10. maybe adv.常用于句首,表示可能性=perhaps

Maybe/ Perhaps the weather will get better.

在may be中,may是情态动词,be是动词原形,两者构成完整的谓语形式,意味“也许是,可能是”Maybe he is wrong.= He may be wrong.

Maybeyou are right and shemay bea little late.

辨析:

Maybe adv.

“大概,或许”,使普通用词,某事也许如此,含不确定意味。

Maybe he is still at home.

Perhaps adv.

“大概,或许”,也是普通用词,相当于maybe

Perhaps he will succeed.

Possibly adv.

“大概,可能”,指客观上潜存着发生某种变化的可能。

You can’t possibly walk 20 miles in an hour.

Probably adv.

“大概,可能”,一般指根据逻辑推理,估计有可能的发生,把握性较大,语气比possibly强。

He will probably refuse the offer.

11. least adj.是little的最高级形式,“最小的,最少的,”指某物在数量上或体积上处于最小的状态。在句中主要用作定语。

He is the best teacher even though he has the least experience.

It’s the least I can do to help.

Adv. 用作副词,“最少,最小”,指某事已经达到了最低限度。

He worked hardest but was paid least.

This is the least important thing of all.

At least至少He plays at least twice a week.

I study at least for 6 hours every day.

healthy food / living habits / lifestyle

You should eat healthy food to keep in good health.

15. result cn. the result of…是。。。。。。的结果

16. percent n. 数字+ percent of+sth…百分之…的...作主语时,谓语动词的单复数由of后的名词决定

eg: We found that only fifteen percent of our students exercise every day.

Twenty percent of the products are burnt..

65 percent of children play computer games.

17. online adj. & adv. go online上网

eg:Online shopping is both cheap and convenient.

The computer might not support online working.

Look up a Chinese word in an online dictionary.

It is faster if you apply online.

They sometimes go online for fun.

18. although conj. =though引导让步状语从句,不能与but连用,但可以与yet/still一起使用

eg: Although he was ill/ in poor health, he worked hard.

Although/Though he is rich, he is unhappy.

19. through prep.

eg: You can only achieve success through hard work.

The sunshine comes in through the window.

She likes trekking through the jungle, because she thinks it’s exciting.

辨析through与across

through

“穿过”,表示从……中通过,着重指从内部空间的一头穿到另一头。

The burglar got in through the window.

across

“穿过”,表示从一条线或一物体表面的一边到另一边。

We walked across the bridge.

over

表示从物体的上面“穿过,越过,渡过”

The birds flew over the river.

20. mind cn. change one’s mind改变主意 make up one’s mind to do下决心= decide to do=

Make a decision to do… never mind 没关系keep in one’s mind记住

Eg: We should make up our minds to study hard.

He has a very sharp mind ,though he is ninety years old,.

He focused his mind on his new plan.

v.介意,当心,常用句型:Do you mind sth./doing sth. ? 你介意(做)某事吗?

Do you mind turning off the TV?

--Do you mind me opening the window? --You’d better not. It’s too cold.。

Would you mind if I smoke here ?

21.Body cn. (pl.)bodies soul and body身心

It is healthy for the mind and the body.

22. such adj.&pron.这样的,那样的,类似的

1)adj. +名词 such a/an+ adj.+单数可数名词

such + adj. +复数名词/不可数名词

Eg: He is such a clever boy.

Today is such fine weather.今天是个好天气。

2)pron.这样的人(事,)如此

Such would be our home in the future.

Such as例如,像。。。这样 用来列举同一类人或事物中的几个,不用逗号与所列的人或物分开。与like可互换。后面可跟名词,代词或动名词

Exercise such as playing sports is fun. I like eating fruit, such as apples, oranges and bananas.

Boys such as John and James are very friendly.

23. together adv. close together紧靠在一起 put together放在一起,拼接在一起get together团聚all together大家一起 together with包括……在内

eg: You can spend time with your friends and family as you play together.

We can stay close together to keep warm. Let’s join hands and struggle together.

“名词/代词+ together with +名词/代词”作主语时,谓语动词应与together with前面的那个名词或代词在人称和数上保持一致。

The teacher ,together with his students ,is going to visit the Great wall。

24. die v. died (过去式) dying (现在分词)强调动作,是瞬间动词,不能与表示一段时间的时间状语连用。

Eg: His grandma died last year.他的奶奶去年去世了。

die of死于(多用于内因hunger, cold, illness ,sorrow…);

die from死于(外因 a wound , an accident, an earthquake…)

Eg: Many people die of cancer.。

Tom’s uncle died from an earthquake.

dead adj. 死的,无生命的many dead bodies/ fish/ animals

Chairman Mao has been dead for more than 30 years.

dying adj垂死的,奄奄一息的The dying woman wanted to see her son again.

death un 死,死亡The death of her mother made her very sad.

My dog died last year and his death made me sad. Now he has been dead for over one year.

25. writer cn. eg:Dickens was a famous English writer.

He is a very famous writer in this country.

Mo Yan is the first Chinese writer who won the Noble Literature Prize.

26. magazine cn. read a magazine/magazines 看杂志a weekly /monthly magazine 周刊/月刊

eg: This magazine has a large circulation.

I was reading a magazine when the phone rang.

27. dentist cn. go to the dentist = go to the dentist’s(room/ clinic)

Eg: The dentist told the boy not to eat too many sweets.

28. however adv.可用于句首或句中,用逗号与后面句子隔开。

Eg: Your idea seems reasonable. However, I can not agree with you.

Jane has a lot of good habits. However, she has some bad habits,too.

It’s raining hard. However, I still want to go there.

29. more than多于=over (反)less than少于

Eg: The city has a population of more than 1,000,000.

There are more than(=over) 2000 students in our school.

Five is less than six.

30. almost adv. (近) nearly常用来修饰形容词,动词,位于系动词,助动词和情态动词之后,行为动词前

Eg: He almost eats all the hamburgers in that restaurant.

Nearly常修饰表示肯定意义的词语,不能与never, nobody, no one, nothing, nowhere, no或none连用

32. point cn. This is the first point I want to make.

v. point at指着。。。可与point to互换,但有时含有非善意的意义

It is rude to point at a person.

point to还可以指着建筑物的方向

Breakfast is important. But not all the students have realized its importance.Here’s the result of our survey.

About 55 percent of the students have breakfast every day regularly.
